1.5-foot snake rescued from parked scooter at Hiranandani Estate in Thane

A 1.5-foot-long Checkered Keelback water snake was rescued from inside a parked scooter at Hiranandani Estate on Ghodbunder Road in Thane West on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The rescue was carried out by the Wildlife Welfare Association (WWA) after they received an emergency call from a local resident who spotted the reptile.

According to members of the Wildlife Welfare Association, the rescue team received a distress call from the resident after the snake was seen taking refuge inside the parked two-wheeler.

Responding promptly to the call, the WWA rescue team arrived at the scene in Thane West to address the situation. The rescuers conducted a careful and thorough search of the vehicle before they successfully located the reptile.

The 1.5-foot-long Checkered Keelback water snake was eventually found near the front wheel of the scooter.

The rescue team managed to safely remove the snake from the vehicle. The Wildlife Welfare Association confirmed that the reptile was secured without causing any harm to the animal itself or to the resident's parked two-wheeler.
