11 Hospitalised in Palghar After Eating Birthday Cake Containing Dead Lizard

Eleven people, including seven children, were hospitalised in Maharashtra's Palghar district due to suspected food poisoning after consuming a birthday cake that allegedly contained a dead lizard, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred during a woman's birthday celebration on Saturday. The cake had been ordered from a bakery located in the Nalasopara area of the district.
Shortly after eating the cake, the victims developed symptoms of food poisoning. They were immediately rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Following the incident, local authorities and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched an investigation into the Nalasopara-based bakery from which the confection was purchased. Police and food safety officials are examining the premises and circumstances surrounding the preparation of the cake.
