11-Year-Old Boy Bitten by Pet Dog in Andheri East; Owner and Handler Booked

An 11-year-old boy was injured after being bitten by a pet dog inside a residential complex in Andheri East on Sunday afternoon. Following the incident, police registered a First Information Report against the dog's owner, 31-year-old Ranganath Rajgopalan, and a housekeeping staff member, Sumit Solanki, who was walking the animal at the time.

The incident occurred around 3:25 pm when the child, identified as Jash, stepped downstairs with his father, Devang Shah, 43, and his grandfather after having lunch. According to Shah, he handed some stationery to Jash and instructed him to head back home before Shah left for his shop along with his father.

Shortly afterward, Shah received a phone call from his wife informing him that Jash had been attacked and bitten by a dog inside the building premises. Shah rushed back home and found the child bleeding from the attack. The boy was immediately taken to Nanavati Hospital for medical treatment.

According to police statements, the boy recounted that the pet dog was being walked by Solanki when it slipped out of the handler's control. The dog then chased Jash across the compound and bit him.

Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered naming both Rajgopalan and Solanki in connection with the incident. Rajgopalan was served a notice of appearance by the investigating officers and was allowed to leave.

Shah alleged that residents in the housing society had previously raised multiple complaints regarding the dog's aggressive behaviour, noting that the animal frequently charged at people, particularly children. He further stated that the dog was being walked without a muzzle when the attack took place on Sunday.
