12-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling Down Elevator Shaft At Shamim Tower In Nehru Nagar

A 12-year-old boy died on 07 July, 2026, after falling into an elevator shaft from the 10th floor of Shamim Tower, a residential building in the Nehru Nagar area of Mumbai. The fatal incident occurred while the child was playing a game of hide-and-seek with other children inside the residential building.

According to local residents of the building, the tragedy took place during the game. The 12-year-old child was reportedly looking for a place to hide from the other children when he went to the elevator area on the 10th floor of the Shamim Tower residential building.

Residents of Shamim Tower stated that the boy was hiding near the elevator area. While hiding, the child was leaning against the elevator doors on the 10th floor. The doors of the elevator suddenly opened, causing the 12-year-old boy to fall into the elevator shaft.

The fall from the 10th floor of the Nehru Nagar building resulted in the death of the child. Local residents in the area expressed deep concern over the event, detailing how the elevator doors unexpectedly opened while the boy was leaning against them.

The fatal fall occurred entirely within the residential premises of Shamim Tower in Nehru Nagar. The other children playing hide-and-seek with the 12-year-old boy were present inside the building when the accident occurred.

According to the accounts of the local residents, the elevator doors opened suddenly, which was the key factor that led to the child falling from the 10th floor into the elevator shaft. On 07 July, 2026, residents confirmed the details of the fatal accident, explaining that the child was playing with other children in the building when he leaned on the doors, leading to the fall.
