17-Year-Old Boy Dies by Suicide in Jalgaon After Online Gaming Losses
A 17-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide at his home in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district on Friday, hours after celebrating Raksha Bandhan with his sister.
The deceased has been identified as Rohit Sahebrao Dhangar, a Class 11 student. According to preliminary information, Rohit had accompanied his father to his sister's house to celebrate the festival. After his sister tied a rakhi, he returned home riding his father's two-wheeler.
Upon reaching home, Rohit reportedly uploaded a photograph with his sister on Instagram along with an emotional message. In the post, he wrote, "Take care of everything, Didi. Don’t leave Mom and Dad alone. I am leaving." He had also posted another emotional message on social media.
In addition to the social media posts, Rohit sent a video message to a friend stating that he had lost money while playing online games. Alerted by the message, the friend and others rushed to Rohit's residence. However, upon arrival, they found the teenager hanging.
Family members and acquaintances rushed Rohit to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jalgaon, where attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The Jalgaon police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in connection with the incident. Officials are examining the teenager's social media accounts, posts, and messaging history as part of the ongoing investigation into the sequence of events leading to his death.
