18-Year-Old Restaurant Worker Murdered Near Mini Seashore in Vashi

An 18-year-old restaurant employee was murdered in a late-night attack on Mini Seashore Road in Sector 9, Vashi, with his body discovered on a footpath near St Mary’s Garden in the early hours of Saturday. Police have launched an investigation and a search operation to identify and apprehend the assailant.

The victim has been identified as Sujankumar Feku Mahato, who worked at a Chinese restaurant in Koparkhairane. According to police reports, Mahato suffered multiple critical injuries across his head, hands, and other parts of his body, allegedly inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the fatal assault took place sometime between 9:00 pm on Friday and 3:56 am on Saturday. The victim was found lying on the footpath right beside the entrance gate of St Mary’s Garden.

The incident came to light when passersby noticed the critically injured teenager lying on the roadside. ACP Adinath Buddhwant stated that a woman and a fellow passerby alerted the police after spotting the victim. Following the alert, a police team arrived at the location, secured the scene, traced Mahato’s relatives, and informed them about the incident.

The exact motive behind the murder remains unclear. Investigating officers are currently probing multiple angles, including whether Mahato was targeted as a result of a personal dispute or if other factors triggered the violent attack.

Following a formal complaint lodged by the victim's 34-year-old mother, Rubidevi Feku Mahato, the Vashi police registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Further investigation is underway.
