19-Year-Old Vikas Mandal Drowns in Creek Near Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Bhayandar

A tragic drowning incident claimed the life of a 19-year-old youth on Thursday morning after he was swept away by a strong water current while swimming in a creek near the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Bhayandar. The deceased teenager has been identified by authorities as Vikas Mandal, who was a resident of the Meenakshi Nagar area located in Mira Road.
According to reports, Mandal had gone to the creek near the Sanjay Gandhi National Park on Thursday morning along with a group of his friends. The youth and his friends had gathered at the water body with the intention of going for a swim in the creek.
While they were swimming in the water, Mandal was suddenly caught in a powerful and fast-moving water current. The sheer force of the water current swept the 19-year-old youth away, pulling him further into the creek.
Upon realizing that Mandal was in danger and being carried away, his friends immediately tried to rescue him from the water. However, despite their immediate efforts to reach him and pull him back to safety, they were unable to save him due to the rapid speed and force of the water flow.
Following the tragic incident, a search was conducted in the creek to locate the missing youth. At approximately 1:00 PM on Thursday, Mandal's body was successfully recovered from the water.
The sudden and tragic death of the teenager has brought immense grief to the local community, deeply affecting the residents of the Mira Road area where the young man resided.
The Kashimira Police Station has officially registered the incident as a case of accidental death. Police officials from the station have initiated a further investigation into the drowning incident to look into the circumstances surrounding the teenager's death.
