19-Year-Old Youth Drowns at Banganga Talao in Walkeshwar

A 19-year-old youth drowned at Banganga Talao in Walkeshwar, South Mumbai, on Saturday afternoon after entering the water body to swim.
The deceased has been identified by authorities as Shekhar Harish Rawal.
According to officials from the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), the incident occurred around 1.10 pm. Police stated that Rawal had gone for a walk to Banganga Talao and subsequently entered the water for a swim.
Rawal allegedly misjudged the depth of the water and began drowning. Local organisation activists and bystanders in the vicinity noticed him struggling and rushed to rescue him. Those present also attempted to provide first aid after seeing him in distress.
Personnel from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, officers from the Malabar Hill police station, and civic ward officials joined the rescue operation at the site. Rawal was pulled out of the water and rushed to Elizabeth Hospital in Malabar Hill.
Doctors at the hospital declared him dead before admission.
The Malabar Hill police are investigating the circumstances leading to the drowning incident. Police officials confirmed that an accidental death report (ADR) has been registered in connection with the matter.
