2 Dead, 5 Injured After Ganesh Idol Loses Balance During Procession in Bhuleshwar

Two people died and five others sustained injuries after a Ganesh idol lost its balance during an arrival ceremony at Balaram Merchant Road in Bhuleshwar late on Saturday night.

The incident took place at approximately 9:50 pm near Kabutarkhana at Jay Ambe Chowk in the Bhuleshwar area. Devotees were carrying the revered idol, known as 'Bhuleshwar Cha Raja', as part of an arrival procession to welcome the deity.

According to information shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Disaster Management Cell, the idol reportedly became difficult for devotees to carry and subsequently lost its balance during the movement.

A total of five people sustained injuries during the accident. One of the injured victims later succumbed to their injuries, while other injured individuals were rushed to GT Hospital, where they were admitted and are undergoing medical treatment.

Civic authorities stated that the tragedy unfolded during the devotees' gathering to welcome Lord Ganesha. Further details regarding the circumstances and factors leading to the accident are currently awaited.
