232 Law Colleges Added to Maharashtra CAP Following Conditional Approval From BCI

A total of 232 law colleges have been added to the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for three-year and five-year LLB courses in Maharashtra after receiving conditional approval from the Bar Council of India (BCI). Following this expansion, law aspirants across the state now have 381 colleges and 31,600 seats available for admissions.

In response to the addition, the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell extended the deadline for candidates to submit their preferred choices of colleges. Applicants for the three-year LLB course have been given time to fill their option forms until August 16, while students applying for the five-year LLB programme can complete their submissions until August 15.

The BCI granted conditional approval to the 232 institutions on August 10 for the 2026-27 academic year. The council specified that this decision serves as a one-time measure exclusively for Maharashtra to assist students whose admission timelines were disrupted by approval delays. The BCI clarified that the conditional clearance does not regularise any prior academic sessions or waive pending institutional fees.

For the three-year LLB programme, 126 colleges have been integrated into the CAP rounds. This addition increases the total number of participating institutions for the course to 219, adding 9,930 seats and taking the aggregate capacity to 20,035 seats.

For the five-year integrated LLB programme, 106 colleges have been included in the admission pool. The total number of participating colleges for the five-year course rose from 56 to 162. With 5,610 additional seats made available through these newly approved institutions, the total seat count for the five-year LLB programme stands at 11,565 across Maharashtra.
