24-Year-Old Borivali West Biker Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash in Chhattisgarh

A 24-year-old resident of Borivali West in Mumbai died on Wednesday morning after her motorcycle was struck by an unidentified heavy vehicle in Chhattisgarh’s Balod district. The victim, identified as Riddhi Thakkar, was travelling with a group of bikers on a tour of the Bastar region when the fatal hit-and-run accident occurred around 6 am near Markatola Ghat on National Highway 30.

Thakkar was riding a Bajaj Avenger motorcycle at the time of the crash. She was part of a group of around 20 motorcyclists who had initially arrived in Raipur before embarking on their journey towards Bastar. The group included riders from Maharashtra alongside participants from other states.

According to police authorities, the accident took place within the territorial jurisdiction of the Purur police station, approximately 90 kilometres away from Raipur. An unidentified heavy vehicle collided directly with Thakkar’s motorcycle, causing her to suffer serious injuries, including severe trauma to her legs.

Immediately following the collision, the heavy vehicle involved in the crash failed to halt and fled the area. Thakkar's fellow riders quickly alerted emergency services by calling Dial 112. An emergency response vehicle arrived at the scene and transported her to the Community Health Centre located in Charama, in the neighbouring Kanker district.

Given the extreme severity of her leg injuries and overall condition, doctors at the Charama health centre referred her to a private medical facility in Dhamtari for further treatment. However, despite receiving medical care at the hospital, Thakkar died during treatment.

Local police have initiated a formal probe into the fatal accident. Law enforcement officials are investigating the exact circumstances of the collision and examining available information regarding the route and characteristics of the fleeing heavy vehicle to identify and locate the driver responsible.
