25-Year-Old Biker Dies in Dumper Crash Near Airoli Toll Plaza in Mulund

A 25-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Gunjan Anil Mishra, died after his two-wheeler rammed into the rear of a dumper truck near the Airoli Toll Plaza on the Mulund-Airoli stretch in Mulund East early Wednesday.

The fatal road accident occurred at approximately 2:15 am on September 2 along the southbound carriageway near the bridge connecting Airoli with Mulund East.

According to police accounts, an Uber driver identified as Vishal Prafulla Thakkar witnessed the crash and reported the sequence of events to officials. Thakkar stated that the motorcyclist was travelling along the route from Airoli towards Mulund when the incident took place.

The witness told investigators that Mishra had allegedly overtaken a car at high speed just prior to the fatal collision. While subsequently attempting to overtake a dumper truck moving ahead on the roadway, the 25-year-old rider reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and crashed directly into the rear of the vehicle.

The severe impact caused Mishra to fall onto the carriageway, where he sustained serious injuries.

Following the accident, police personnel arrived at the location and found the injured rider lying on the road. Officers secured the scene and recovered Mishra’s mobile phone from the spot. While police held the device, an incoming call came through from a man identified as Neeraj. Neeraj spoke with the officers on the line and provided the details that allowed police to confirm the identity of the injured rider as Gunjan Anil Mishra.

Police personnel then moved Mishra from the accident site to Veer Savarkar Hospital in Mulund East for urgent medical treatment. However, upon arrival, medical doctors at the hospital examined him and declared him dead before admission.
