25-Year-Old Kolhapur Man Drowns in Malvan Resort Swimming Pool

A 25-year-old man from Kolhapur drowned in a swimming pool at the Malvani Pahunchar Restaurant and Resort in Malvan, Sindhudurg district, during a weekend vacation with his friends. The incident occurred at around 3:00 PM on June 21, resulting in the death of Shrenik Milind Takale.

Takale was a resident of Kasba Sangaon village, located in the Kagal taluka of Kolhapur district. He had travelled to the coastal town of Malvan, which is situated around 500 kilometres from Mumbai, for a holiday with a group of nine friends.

The group of ten friends arrived in Malvan between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM on June 20. They checked into the Malvani Pahunchar Restaurant and Resort, a budget-friendly, homestay-style property, to begin their getaway.

According to the local police, the drowning occurred the following afternoon, shortly after the group had finished their lunch. Takale decided to jump into the resort's swimming pool, which was about 4 to 4.5 feet deep. At the time, his friends were already inside the pool, playing a game and listening to music.

When Takale failed to resurface after an unusually long period, his friends became concerned and realised something was wrong. They quickly pulled him out of the pool, finding him completely unconscious.

He was rushed immediately to the Rural Hospital in Malvan. Upon arrival, doctors examined him but declared him dead on arrival. The preliminary medical assessment attributed the cause of death to asphyxiation due to submersion.

The Malvan police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) regarding the incident. Officials stated that there is no evidence of foul play detected so far.

Further inquiries are currently underway to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the drowning. Meanwhile, Takale's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the official cause of death will be confirmed once the medical report is received.
