25-Year-Old Mohit Soni Killed By Unexpected Airbag Deployment In Parked Car In Kashimira

A 25-year-old man died on Wednesday afternoon in the Kashimira area of Mira Road after the steering wheel airbag of a parked car unexpectedly deployed and struck him in the neck. The victim, identified as Mohit Soni, suffered deep injuries and fatal hemorrhaging inside the stationary vehicle.

Soni was a resident of the Tiara Hills building in Kashimira. The fatal incident occurred while he was sitting inside a Honda car, which bears the registration number MH01AL6301. The vehicle was parked along the road when the airbag unexpectedly triggered.

According to police sources, the steering wheel airbag deployed suddenly and without any apparent warning. The plastic cover casing that protects the safety mechanism flew off with immense force and high intensity. It struck Soni directly on the right side of his neck, causing deep injuries and profuse bleeding.

Following the sudden deployment, Soni was rushed to the Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Govt Hospital in Bhayandar. Medical personnel at the government hospital examined him but declared him dead before he could be admitted for treatment.

The Kashimira police have officially registered an accidental death report to initiate a detailed probe into the incident. The police investigation is currently focusing on the suspected technical failure of the safety mechanism.

Primary inspections of the Honda car conducted by police officials from all sides revealed no visible evidence of an external collision or any road accident. Investigators noted that although the vehicle is 15 years old, sources in the Kashimira police department stated that it reportedly possessed a valid fitness certificate.
