34-Year-Old Man Drowns in Tansa River Near Khanivade Village

A 34-year-old man drowned while bathing in the Tansa river near Khanivade village off the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway, near Vasai, on Friday evening. The victim, identified as Sanju Tukaram Gavte, was a resident of Jabarpada in Pelhar who was staying with his aunt in the nearby Khanivade-Hedavde area when the accident occurred. His body was recovered from the river on Saturday morning.
According to the Mandvi police, the incident took place when Gavte went to the Tansa river for a bath on Friday evening. Preliminary investigations indicate that he likely misjudged the depth of the river water, which led to his drowning.
On Saturday morning, local residents spotted Gavte's body floating in the Tansa river. They immediately contacted the local authorities to report the sighting.
Upon being alerted, personnel from the Mandvi police station arrived at the scene. The police officers recovered the body from the river and initiated the required legal formalities.
An accidental death report (ADR) has been registered at the Mandvi police station. The police have initiated an inquiry, and further investigations into the drowning incident are currently underway.
