55-Year-Old Domestic Help Found Strangled Inside Locked Nepean Sea Road Home

A 55-year-old domestic help was found dead on Saturday inside her locked residence on Nepean Sea Road in Mumbai, in what police suspect is a case of murder by strangulation. The victim, identified as Jyoti Prakash Pawar, was discovered by her daughter after Pawar's employer alerted the family that she had not reported for work.
Following the discovery, the Malabar Hill police registered a murder case against an unidentified suspect. A police investigation is currently underway to determine the motive behind the crime.
According to the police, Pawar had been living alone in the Nepean Sea Road area following the death of her husband. She earned her living by working as a domestic help in the local neighbourhood.
The incident came to light when Pawar’s daughter, Ekta Jadhav, received a call from her mother's employer. The employer informed Jadhav that Pawar had failed to report for her scheduled work. Jadhav attempted to contact her mother directly, but found that Pawar’s mobile phone was switched off.
Concerned by the situation, Jadhav rushed to her mother's residence. Upon arriving, she noticed her mother’s slippers lying outside the door, while the door itself was locked from the outside.
Suspecting that something was wrong, Jadhav broke open the lock to enter the home. Inside, she found Pawar lying dead. Jadhav immediately alerted the local police about the situation.
Officers from the Malabar Hill police station arrived at the residence to secure the scene. A police officer confirmed that they have sent Pawar's body for a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the police are currently examining Pawar’s mobile phone. They are also in the process of recording statements from family members and other individuals to ascertain the motive. Investigators are probing whether any personal enmity or financial dealings could have led to the suspected murder.
