62-Year-Old Man Arrested for Molesting 14-Year-Old Neighbour in Bhiwandi

A 62-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old minor girl in the Taware Wadi area of Bhiwandi in Thane district, police officials said on Tuesday.

The accused, who is employed at a local powerloom, resides in the same chawl as the victim and is her neighbour. Following a formal complaint lodged by the minor's mother, law enforcement authorities initiated an investigation and took the man into custody.

According to the complaint filed by the mother, the accused allegedly approached the 14-year-old girl and grabbed her hand with sexual intent. During the encounter, he also allegedly directed obscene remarks towards her.

After the girl reported the incident to her family, her mother approached the local police station to file a complaint against the neighbour. Acting on the details provided in the complaint, the police moved swiftly to apprehend the powerloom worker.

The police have initiated legal proceedings against the 62-year-old resident in connection with the alleged offence.
