64-year-old plumber critically injured after tree collapses outside Thane RTO

A 64-year-old plumber is battling for his life after a tree collapsed on him outside the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Thane on Monday morning.

The victim, identified as Pandurang Buvad, is a resident of the Dharmveer Nagar locality. According to the Thane Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), Buvad was standing near an autorickshaw outside the Thane RTO office when the tree suddenly fell on him.

Buvad sustained serious head injuries in the accident and was rushed to Mahavir Hospital, where he immediately underwent surgery.

Minal Sankhe, a local councillor who helped shift Buvad to the hospital, said doctors discovered a blood clot in his brain during the operation.

Sankhe stated that Buvad remains in a critical condition and will have to be monitored for at least 48 hours, after which doctors will be able to properly assess his condition.

The collapse occurred during a period of intense rainfall and strong winds in Thane, which resulted in multiple reported cases of tree falls across the city on Monday morning.
