71-Year-Old Woman Dies in Vasai West House Collapse After Heavy Rain

A 71-year-old woman died after an old tiled-roof house collapsed in the Rameadi Church Holi area of Vasai West following heavy rainfall throughout the day on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Shashikala Arun Patil. She was inside the residential structure when it suddenly collapsed under the impact of the continuous downpour, trapping her underneath the fallen debris.

Personnel from the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation Fire Brigade were deployed to the location to carry out a rescue operation. Fire department responders worked at the site to clear the collapsed structure and successfully pulled the trapped woman out from under the rubble.

She was immediately rushed to a hospital for urgent medical attention. However, doctors declared her dead upon admission.

The incident in the Rameadi neighborhood has sparked significant concern among local residents living in old and vulnerable houses across the area, who now fear further risks during periods of heavy rain.
