8 Dead in Kurla West Landslide as Rescue Operation Concludes in Ashok Nagar

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) concluded its search and rescue operations at Garib Nawab Chawl in Ashok Nagar, Kurla West, on Thursday, August 13, following a landslide that killed eight people. The agency officially closed its Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) operation at 1:25 pm after accounting for all 12 affected individuals.

The landslide struck the Kurla West location at around 3:38 am on August 12, leaving several residents feared trapped under the fallen debris.

Emergency personnel recovered eight bodies from the site. Among these, the NDRF recovered six bodies, which comprised three men, one woman, one male child, and one female child.

In addition to the eight fatalities, emergency responders evacuated four people from the debris. The NDRF called off the search operation in consultation with the civil administration after confirming that all 12 people involved in the incident were accounted for.
