Aadhaar-VAHAN Data Mismatch Strands Thousands of Vehicles Across Maharashtra

Thousands of vehicle owners and transport operators across Maharashtra are facing severe delays in completing Transfer of Ownership applications on the VAHAN portal due to data mismatches with Aadhaar records, according to the All India Motor Transport Congress.

The discrepancy primarily affects cases where there are differences in names, middle names, and PIN codes between Aadhaar cards and vehicle registration documents. As a result, transfer procedures have been held up at Regional Transport Offices across the state.

Bal Malkit Singh, Advisor and former President of the All India Motor Transport Congress, has urged the Maharashtra Transport Department to intervene and resolve the technical hurdles at the earliest.

Transport representatives noted that the ongoing administrative bottleneck is leaving commercial vehicles idle, causing significant financial losses to vehicle operators and related businesses across Maharashtra.
