AC Technician Dies After Fall From 11th Floor of Bandra High-Rise, Two Detained

A 27-year-old air-conditioning technician died on Saturday after falling from the 11th floor of a 29-storey residential building in Bandra’s Kalanagar, police said.

The incident took place at about 12:30 pm at Ten BKC, where the victim, identified as Ziyadul Shamshujuha Huda, was installing an outdoor AC unit from outside a window.

Following the fatal fall, the Kherwadi police detained the AC contractor, Tashvar Ali Ibbarat Ali Mansuri (28), and site supervisor Indrajit Chauhan (30). Both were held for allegedly causing death by negligence after an initial investigation indicated that proper safety measures were not implemented on site.

According to an officer from the Kherwadi police station, the duo claimed they had provided a harness, but investigators are probing whether it was properly fastened and whether the supervisor and contractor inspected the safety measures before Huda was assigned to the task. Police noted that while Huda had used a safety belt during the work, he was not wearing a helmet.

The incident came to light after a pedestrian who witnessed the fall flagged down a patrolling police vehicle at around 1:45 pm as it was travelling towards the MHADA office opposite Gurunanak Hospital to report that a person had fallen from the building.
