Air India Flight AI816 Aborts Take Off In Mumbai After ATC Instructions

An Air India flight bound for Delhi aborted its take-off run in Mumbai on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, following direct instructions from Air Traffic Control.

The aircraft, operating as flight AI816 from Mumbai to Delhi, discontinued its take-off run immediately after receiving the directive from Air Traffic Control (ATC), according to an official statement from the airline.

Following the aborted take-off, the aircraft safely returned to the bay. Air India stated that the plane will undergo all necessary technical and safety checks in accordance with standard operating procedures before returning to service.

The sudden discontinuation of the take-off run caused delays for the passengers on board. To minimize the disruption, Air India announced that alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destination in Delhi at the earliest possible time.

Air India also issued an apology to the passengers for the inconvenience caused by the unforeseen situation. The airline reiterated that passenger safety and well-being remain its top priority during such operations.
