Akash Fundkar Orders Resolution of Mathadi Worker Issues at Chakan Facility

On Tuesday, Maharashtra Labour Minister Adv. Akash Fundkar directed government officials to resolve the pending issues of Mathadi workers employed at the Mahindra Logistics facility in Chakan. During a high-level meeting chaired in Mumbai, the minister ordered an immediate and objective verification of the workers' grievances, which include pending wage revisions, unpaid dues, and worker registration.

The meeting was convened following complaints raised by the Mathadi workers regarding their long-pending demands at the Chakan logistics hub. Minister Fundkar emphasized the state government's commitment to safeguarding workers' rights and instructed officials to take appropriate action in accordance with labour laws and established procedures.

"Protecting the interests of workers and ensuring they receive justice is the government's top priority. All necessary action should be taken after examining the relevant documents and following due legal procedure," Fundkar said. He noted that the government remains sensitive to the concerns of Mathadi workers and aims to address their issues in a fair, transparent manner.

The minister directed officials to expedite the examination of wage enhancement proposals and the recovery of outstanding dues. He also called for discussions with all concerned organizations and representatives to arrive at an amicable and lasting solution through consensus, while protecting the legitimate rights of the workers.

Several high-ranking officials attended the meeting in Mumbai to discuss the dispute. Among those present were Deputy Secretary (Labour) Swapnil Kapadnis, Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation Chairman Narendra Patil, and Assistant Labour Commissioner N.A. Walke.

The session also saw participation from senior Labour Department officials and representatives of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Mathadi and Unprotected Workers Board. Representatives from Mahindra Logistics joined the proceedings via video conferencing.

Following the meeting, the Labour Department is expected to conduct further discussions with all stakeholders to ensure an early resolution to the dispute while maintaining industrial harmony.
