Amba River Crosses Danger Mark at Nagothane Triggering Flood Alert

The Amba River at Nagothane in Roha taluka, Raigad district, crossed its danger mark on Friday, July 3, following continuous heavy rainfall. The rising water levels prompted the Raigad district administration to issue a flood alert for residents living along the riverbanks.
According to a river water level report issued at 4 p.m. on Friday, the water level of the Amba River at the Nagothane barrage rose to 9.15 metres. This height exceeded both the warning level of 8 metres and the danger mark of 9 metres.
The Raigad District Disaster Management Authority advised people residing in low-lying and riverside areas to remain highly vigilant. Residents were urged to prepare to move to safer locations immediately if the situation worsens.
Meanwhile, other rivers in the district are also being monitored. The Kundalika River at the Dolvahal barrage in Roha was recorded flowing at 23.30 metres, which is above its warning level of 23 metres but still below its danger mark of 23.95 metres.
Water levels in other major rivers in the district currently remain below their respective warning levels. The Savitri River at Bhoighat Mahikavati Temple in Mahad was recorded at 4.25 metres, below its warning level of 6 metres. The Patalganga River at Lohop in Khalapur stood at 18.75 metres, below its 20.50-metre warning level.
Additionally, the Ulhas River at Dahivali in Karjat was flowing at 43.15 metres, below its warning level of 48.10 metres. The Gadhi River at the Government Rest House in Panvel was at 3.30 metres, below its warning level of 6 metres.
The river status report was submitted by the Flood Control Cell of the Raigad Irrigation Department in Kolad to the district administration and senior officials of the Water Resources Department. Authorities have appealed to citizens to avoid venturing near riverbanks and to cooperate with local officials if evacuation becomes necessary.
