Amit Mane Photographs Rare Bioluminescent Fungi In Sahyadri Tiger Reserve

Wildlife photographer Amit Mane has documented and photographed a rare spectacle of bioluminescent fungi emitting a soft green glow in the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve within the Western Ghats. The documentation of this phenomenon, reported on July 13, 2026, showcases one of the Western Ghats' lesser-known natural wonders and highlights the high conservation value of the reserve.

The tiny fungi emit their soft green glow after sunset, illuminating decaying wood and the forest floor. Mane's photographs captured the glowing fungi covering a tree trunk within the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve.

According to Mane, this remarkable occurrence reflects the reserve's immense conservation value and emphasizes the ecological importance of intact forest ecosystems. He explained that healthy forests support nutrient cycling, regulate water, and maintain the microhabitats essential for the survival of countless species.
