ANC Ghatkopar Arrests Man in Chembur With ₹84 Lakh Worth of Hydro Ganja

The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) Ghatkopar Unit has arrested a 40-year-old man in Chembur for the alleged possession and planned sale of hydro ganja worth approximately ₹84 lakh. The interception took place near the PWD Ground bus stop on Veer Mata Jijamata Bhosale Marg, located along the Mankhurd-Ghatkopar Link Road in Chedanagar.
Police identified the arrested individual as Mariappa Perianand Devendra, aged 40. According to law enforcement officials, the action unfolded while an ANC patrolling team was operating in the Chedanagar area on September 30, 2026.
During the patrol, the team noticed Devendra near the bus stop and detained him on suspicion. A subsequent search of his belongings led to the recovery of 2.451 kilograms of hydro ganja, a prohibited narcotic substance, which police suspect was intended for distribution and sale.
The seized contraband has been valued at approximately ₹84 lakh. Following the search and seizure, the ANC team took the illicit narcotics into custody and placed Devendra under formal arrest.
A case has been registered against Devendra under Sections 8(c) and 20(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The formal complaint has been filed as an ANC Crime at the Tilak Nagar Police Station, and officials stated that further investigation into the network and supply is underway.
