ANC Raids 13 Mumbai Locations Including Bandra in Rs 50.74 Crore Drug Probe

The Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has launched simultaneous raids at 13 locations across Mumbai, including Bandra, as part of an ongoing investigation into a major drug manufacturing racket. The coordinated operation, conducted by 10 ANC teams, targeted multiple neighborhoods including Agripada, Colaba, Powai, and Ghatkopar, following the discovery of a network of fake companies used to procure chemical precursors online.

The ongoing raids are directly linked to a previous bust in May 2026, when the Kandivali Unit of the ANC uncovered an illegal mephedrone (MD) manufacturing unit operating inside a residential flat in Agripada. During that May operation, police seized MD drugs valued at approximately Rs 50.74 crore, alongside various weapons and manufacturing equipment.

Following that initial bust, Crime Branch officials launched a deeper probe into how the illicit operation acquired its raw materials. Investigators discovered that the chemical 2-Bromo-4,5-Methylenedioxyphenyl, which serves as a key precursor used in the manufacture of MD, had allegedly been procured through online orders.

Further investigation revealed that the accused had sourced these drug-manufacturing chemicals through 11 different companies. However, when Crime Branch teams visited the addresses provided by the accused for these businesses, they discovered that the companies did not exist at those locations.

The addresses were found to be entirely fake, prompting investigators to question local residents and gather further information about the bogus firms allegedly used to procure the chemicals.

The raids and investigation remain ongoing as officials probe the supply chain and the network involved in sourcing precursor chemicals for the illegal manufacture of narcotics. The 10 ANC teams continue to search the 13 locations, which include two sites in Colaba, as well as properties in Agripada, Bandra, Powai, and Ghatkopar.
