Anna Bansode Orders Action on Illegal Constructions in Kolhapur Villages
Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker Anna Bansode has directed authorities to initiate immediate legal action against unauthorised and illegal constructions across several villages, including Valivade, Uchgaon, Gandhinagar, Chinchwad, and Mudshingi, falling under the jurisdiction of the Kolhapur Urban Area Development Authority (KUADA).
The directives were issued during a review meeting chaired by Bansode at the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai. The meeting was convened to examine alleged negligence by KUADA officials in taking timely enforcement action against unauthorized building developments. The Kolhapur district collector and other concerned administrative officials attended the session.
Bansode ordered an official inquiry against personnel found responsible for delaying or neglecting action against unlawful developments. He instructed the administration to conduct a comprehensive survey of all illegal structures and submit a detailed report detailing the status of the buildings and the enforcement actions taken by August 28-29.
During the proceedings, officials briefed the Deputy Speaker on specific complaints originating from Valivade, Uchgaon, Gandhinagar, Chinchwad, and Mudshingi. The administration shared records of official notices issued, site inspection reports, police cases filed, and the current status of related court proceedings.
Bansode stated that matters concerning unauthorised developments should not remain pending merely through the issuance of routine notices or basic administrative measures. He instructed authorities to initiate strict legal proceedings in accordance with statutory rules and ensure that accountability is fixed for any official delays.
Furthermore, the Deputy Speaker directed the Kolhapur district collector to issue required notices and advance enforcement measures. He also instructed relevant sub-registrars to implement steps to stop the sale and purchase of residential units located within unauthorised buildings.
Reiterating that regulatory enforcement must be executed without discrimination against all illegal structures, Bansode mandated that the comprehensive survey and corresponding action report be completed within the specified August 28-29 deadline.
