Around 2,900 ST Buses Arranged for Konkan Devotees, Says Eknath Shinde in Thane

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Sunday, September 6, 2026, that around 2,900 Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (ST) buses have been arranged to ferry Ganesh devotees to their hometowns in Konkan and western Maharashtra for Ganeshotsav 2026.

Shinde made the announcement during an event held in Thane, where he launched the distribution of tickets for the free bus service organized by the Shiv Sena, according to an official statement issued by the Deputy Chief Minister's office.

The transport initiative aims to ensure a safe, comfortable, and convenient journey for devotees travelling during the festive rush. Shinde noted that the free bus arrangements are particularly intended to support individuals and families who are unable to secure train reservations or alternative transport tickets during the peak festival season.

Highlighting the cultural significance of the festival, Shinde stated that Ganeshotsav serves not only as a religious celebration but also as an important tradition that brings society together and helps preserve Maharashtra's heritage and culture.
