Authorities to Install Speed Cameras in Tunnels on Pune-Mumbai Missing Link

Authorities have decided to tighten surveillance on overspeeding vehicles and traffic violations on the newly opened Pune–Mumbai Missing Link section of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway.

As part of the safety measures, advanced speed monitoring cameras will be installed inside all four tunnels along the route. The decision follows an accident on Thursday, captured on CCTV footage, which spurred officials into action.

The camera system inside the tunnels will keep a close watch on passing vehicle movement and automatically detect traffic violations and overspeeding.

Alongside the automated surveillance, the Highway Police have launched a special drive to curb the illegal entry of heavy vehicles on the restricted stretch.
