Autorickshaw and Taxi Fares, Fuel and Milk Prices Rise in Mumbai From September 1

Mumbai residents faced an increase in daily travel and household expenses starting Tuesday, September 1, following price and fare revisions across public transport, fuels, and essential commodities.

The revised rates impact autorickshaws, taxis, piped natural gas (PNG), compressed natural gas (CNG), wholesale milk, and commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) across the city.

Under the new fare structure, the minimum fare for autorickshaws has increased by Re 1, moving from Rs 26 to Rs 27. The minimum taxi fare has risen by Rs 2, going from Rs 31 to Rs 33. For both autorickshaws and taxis, the revised minimum fare applies to the first 1.5 kilometres of travel.

In addition to local commuter transport, commercial and domestic energy costs have shifted. Rates for CNG, PNG, and commercial LPG have risen, alongside wholesale milk prices, impacting household budgets and business operations.

Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has also become more expensive from September 1, adding to operating costs for airlines operating out of the city.
