Autorickshaw Driver Arrested Near Bandra Station With 10 kg Charas Worth Rs 10 Crore

The Worli unit of the Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) arrested a 31-year-old autorickshaw driver near Bandra railway station after seizing 10 kilograms of charas valued at approximately Rs 10 crore.

The accused has been identified as Santosh Sav, a resident of Motihari district in Bihar. According to police officials, Sav has studied only up to Class 2 and works as an autorickshaw driver in his home state.

The arrest followed specific intelligence received by the ANC indicating that an individual had travelled from Bihar to Mumbai carrying a commercial consignment of narcotics. Acting on the tip-off, officials from the Worli unit laid a trap in the vicinity of Bandra railway station, where they intercepted Sav upon his arrival.

A subsequent search of Sav led to the recovery of 10 kilograms of charas from his possession. Investigators estimated the street value of the seized contraband at around Rs 10 crore.

Police suspect that Sav was operating as a courier within an interstate narcotics syndicate active between Bihar and Mumbai. Investigators are currently questioning the accused to determine who sent him from Bihar, the original source of the drugs, and the intended recipients in the city.

Sav was produced before a local court on Tuesday, which remanded him to police custody until August 21. The Anti-Narcotics Cell is conducting further inquiries to trace and identify additional members of the trafficking network.
