Bandra ANC Arrests Man With Rs 2.53 Crore Mephedrone in Kandivali
The Bandra Unit of the Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) arrested a 49-year-old man on August 11, 2026, after seizing mephedrone valued at approximately Rs 2.53 crore in Gayatri Nagar, Kandivali East.
The police action was initiated following a specific tip-off received by the ANC team. Officers set up a trap near the Sai Dham/Dattani Park bus stop, located along the Western Express Highway in Gayatri Nagar.
Police detained the accused, identified as Chandramani Shivshankar Pandey, at the public location while he was allegedly carrying the narcotic substance intended for sale in Kandivali East.
A personal search conducted by the police team yielded 1,015 grams of mephedrone (MD) from Pandey's possession. The seized narcotic has an estimated market value of Rs 2.53 crore.
Following the search and recovery, Pandey was taken into custody and arrested. A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Further investigation into the case is currently underway. Police officials are working to ascertain the origin and source of the mephedrone, identify its intended recipients, and uncover the larger supply network.
The operation was conducted by the Bandra Unit team under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Vishal Chandanshive as part of the Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch.
