Bandra Link Square Mall Shop Owners Protest Over 16-Month Fire Closure

Nearly 200 shop owners of Link Square Mall in Bandra West staged a protest on Monday, August 24, demanding immediate structural repairs and the reopening of the premises 16 months after a fire forced the commercial complex to close.
The blaze broke out on April 29, 2025, leading to the complete shutdown of the mall. According to the affected shopkeepers, an insurance survey was conducted after the incident, but the claim process remains incomplete and structural repair work has yet to commence.
The prolonged closure has left shopkeepers without business income for over a year. The protesters, who include senior citizens and people battling serious illnesses, noted that they continue to face financial strain as they pay off loans and manage regular expenses without any earnings from their shops.
In an effort to speed up the process and resume operations, the owners stated that they are prepared to contribute funds towards the required structural repairs if it facilitates the reopening of the mall.
