Bandra Police Detain Three After Road-Rage Assault Near Bandra Talao

On August 9 at around 12:15 am, a 39-year-old fitness trainer, Arjunjit Grewal, was allegedly confronted and assaulted by a group of men during a road-rage incident near Bandra Talao in Bandra. The Bandra police subsequently registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and detained three men in connection with the attack, which took place minutes away from the Bandra police station and DCP office.
According to Grewal's complaint, the confrontation began after he overtook a Mahindra XUV700. He alleged that the occupants of the XUV700 had repeatedly cut his vehicle, driven aggressively, overtook him, and then intentionally slowed down in front of his car.
Grewal stated that after he passed them again, the group chased his red Mahindra Thar and rammed it near a petrol pump. The assailants then intercepted his vehicle near Bandra Lake and assaulted him. During the attack, one man allegedly attempted to strike Grewal with a baseball bat, while another used a hockey stick to damage the windows of his car.
Footage of the incident went viral on social media, showing Grewal's wife repeatedly stating that she had called emergency services as two to three men charged toward their vehicle while hurling abuse. Passersby and local residents intervened to calm the situation before the men got back into the XUV700 and left the area.
Following the complaint, the Bandra police registered an FIR under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for alleged assault and criminal intimidation. Officers detained three men identified as Anas K, 25, Bilal Shaikh, 30, and Rajen. All three were later released after being served notices, while police work to trace other participants who fled the scene.
