Bandra's Gaiety Galaxy Shuts Down and Cancels Shows Over Licence Issue

The iconic Gaiety Galaxy theatre in Bandra West shut its doors and cancelled all scheduled movie screenings on Monday afternoon, September 7, 2026, following issues regarding the renewal of its operating licence.

Moviegoers arriving at the venue were left surprised to discover the cinema complex closed. Several notices displayed around the premises informed visitors that screenings had been called off because the theatre had not renewed its licence.

Around 12 notices were reportedly pasted across the walls of the cinema hall. Citing the Bandra police at the bottom, the notices stated that 'the cinema hall had not renewed its licence and that further shows had been cancelled'.
