BEST Bus Breakdowns and Overturned Vehicles Stall Traffic Across Mumbai Routes

A series of bus breakdowns involving the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport undertaking, alongside two separate vehicle overturns, disrupted and severely slowed down vehicular movement across multiple locations on Monday morning.

The disruptions were reported along major transit points, including Sakinaka Junction, the Powai Indian Institute of Technology Main Gate in Sakinaka, Supreme Multispecialty Hospital in Ghatkopar, near the Sai Palace Hotel at MIDC, and in the vicinity of the Pratap Nagar Signal on the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road Bridge.

In addition to the bus failures, two separate road accidents added to the vehicular congestion. A dumper overturned directly in front of the Magathane Bridge Metro Mall along the north-bound carriageway. To manage the resulting gridlock, authorities were forced to divert all north-bound vehicular movement onto the adjoining service road.

South-bound traffic also suffered significant bottlenecks after a tempo overturned on the Ghatkopar bridge located in Vikhroli, halting smooth transit for commuters moving along that corridor.

The Mumbai Traffic Police later confirmed that normal vehicular movement was subsequently restored across all the affected routes and locations following clearance operations.
