BEST Committee Approves 150 AC Electric Double-Decker Buses for Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Committee has unanimously approved the induction of 150 air-conditioned electric double-decker buses to bolster public transportation across Mumbai.

The decision was formally taken during a BEST Committee meeting chaired by Trushna Chandrakant Vishwasrao, the BEST Committee Chairperson and Municipal Councillor from Ward 180. The meeting was conducted in the presence of BEST General Manager Dr Sonia Sethi.

According to an official statement, the induction of the 150 new buses is aimed at making daily travel significantly more comfortable for Mumbai commuters while modernising the city's transit network.

Officials noted that the move is part of BEST's wider strategy to expand its electric bus fleet and address the steadily increasing demand for public transport services throughout the city.

The proposed double-decker buses will be entirely electric and air-conditioned. BEST aims to provide passengers with a cleaner, environmentally friendly, and comfortable alternative for their daily commutes across Mumbai.
