BEST Committee Approves Proposed Pay Reforms for Over 38,000 Workers in Mumbai

More than 38,000 employees of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking across Mumbai are set to benefit from a major proposed wage settlement and pay reforms approved by the BEST Committee.

The approved recommendations address multiple sections of the civic utility's bus and electricity workforce. The decisions cover backdated salary revisions for permanent staff, revised pay for casual workers, and equal pay measures for contractual personnel.

The primary share of the proposal applies to approximately 27,000 permanent BEST employees, who constitute the largest group covered under the backdated wage adjustments.

In addition to permanent staff, the measures incorporate revised compensation frameworks for casual workers and introduce equal pay provisions to support contractual employees engaged across the undertaking's operations.
