BEST Electric Bus Hits Two Pedestrians in Kandivali, Leaving One in ICU

A speeding Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) electric bus hit two pedestrians near the Poisar depot in Kandivali, Mumbai, on Monday morning, leaving a 24-year-old woman critically injured. The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 am when the victims were crossing the street.
The two pedestrians have been identified as Sonam Maurya, 24, and Adarsh Hiralal Yadav, 24. They were crossing the road near the Poisar depot when the electric bus, operating on route number A-277/38 from the Gorai depot, rammed into them.
The collision was captured on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed in the area. The footage shows the speeding electric vehicle driving directly into the two pedestrians as they attempted to cross.
Immediately after the crash, the bus conductor rushed both of the injured pedestrians to the nearby Shatabdi Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Maurya sustained critical injuries, including severe trauma to her head and leg. She is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Yadav sustained relatively minor injuries, including trauma to his shoulder and a wound near his right eye.
Police investigators have seized the CCTV footage of the incident. Officials stated that they are currently investigating the circumstances and the exact cause of the accident.
This incident is part of a series of recent accidents involving BEST buses in Mumbai, which have raised questions and allegations regarding potential technical issues, including sudden brake failures.
In previous incidents, a BEST bus crashed into people while reversing in Bhadup last year, resulting in four fatalities. Another accident in Mulund led to the death of an elderly woman who was crushed by a BEST bus. Additionally, a food delivery worker was crushed to death by a BEST bus in Mumbai's Prabhadevi area last April.
