BEST electric bus rolls out of Kurla depot and hits two motorcycles

An electric Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus rolled out of the Kurla depot in Mumbai on Saturday and collided with two parked motorcycles. The incident occurred after depot staff and the driver attempted to start the vehicle by pushing it down a slope following a technical failure.
The vehicle involved in the incident was identified as Bus No. 10439, which runs on Route 415/58. According to officials, the electric bus was initially parked near the gate of the Kurla depot when it developed a technical issue and failed to start.
In an effort to get the bus started, staff members from PMI and the bus driver attempted to push the heavy vehicle down a slope inside the depot. However, during the attempt, the electric bus rolled out of the depot gates and ended up hitting two motorcycles that were parked in the vicinity.
The public relations officer for the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport undertaking released an official statement regarding the accident. The BEST PRO confirmed that the bus had experienced a technical problem while parked, which prompted the PMI staff and the driver to try pushing it down the slope to get the systems running.
Despite the unusual method used to start the electric vehicle and the subsequent collision outside the depot gates, authorities confirmed that no one was injured in the incident. The damage was confined to the two parked motorcycles that were struck by the rolling bus.
The Kurla depot, where the incident took place, is a key hub for BEST bus operations in the area. Official reports from the transport body did not indicate any further disruptions to services on Route 415/58 following the mishap.
