BEST Mandates Refresher Training for 5,200 Wet-Lease Bus Drivers in Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking has ordered mandatory refresher training for approximately 5,200 wet-lease bus drivers across Mumbai following recent serious accidents in localities including Mankhurd and Mulund.
According to an official statement issued on Wednesday, the public transport body launched the safety initiative to tighten oversight on contractor-operated buses. Under the directive, all wet-lease drivers operating in the city must undergo a three-day refresher course aimed at improving road safety.
As part of the initiative, BEST has allocated three additional electric buses to the Dindoshi Training Centre to facilitate hands-on practical training for the drivers.
The enforcement drive comes as authorities step up overall safety measures across the municipal bus network in response to multiple collisions involving leased fleet vehicles.
