Bhiwandi Civic Body Launches Drive Against Illegal Advertisements and Defacement

The Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC) has launched a special enforcement drive against illegal advertisements and property defacement across Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. The civic body announced that violators will face criminal prosecution, financial penalties, and the recovery of expenses incurred in removing the unauthorized displays.

According to an official public notice issued by the civic body's Public Relations Department, strict action will be taken against individuals, organizations, and agencies that display banners, flex boards, posters, hoardings, stickers, wall paintings, or any other form of advertisement without prior permission.

The special drive will cover both public and private properties throughout the city. This includes public roads, footpaths, flyovers, electric poles, trees, retaining walls, government buildings, and private properties where advertisements have been displayed in violation of regulations.

The civic administration has appealed to citizens, commercial establishments, advertising agencies, political parties, social organizations, religious bodies, and event organizers to obtain prior permission from the municipal corporation before displaying any advertisement.

Under the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1995, displaying unauthorized advertisements, posters, banners, flexes, paintings, or writings on any property is a punishable offense. The BNCMC also clarified that under the advertisement control provisions of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, 1949, no advertisement can be displayed without municipal approval and the payment of prescribed fees.

The corporation warned that all unauthorized advertisements will be removed immediately. Legal action may be initiated against advertisers, property owners, printers, advertising agencies, event organizers, and any other individuals found responsible for violating the law. Furthermore, the entire cost of removing the illegal displays will be recovered from the violators.

The BNCMC has urged residents to help keep the city clean and free from visual pollution by reporting illegal advertisements or property defacement to their respective ward offices or the concerned municipal department.
