Biker Arrested After Hit-and-Run Injures 15-Year-Old Schoolgirl on Juhu NS Road

Juhu Police arrested a 20-year-old collegian on Saturday in connection with a hit-and-run incident that left a 15-year-old schoolgirl injured on NS Road in Juhu.

The collision occurred around 8:15 am on August 18. The victim, an American citizen of Indian origin and a Class 10 student at a renowned school in Juhu, had completed her tuition classes and was returning home to pick up her tiffin before walking to school.

According to police reports, the teenager was crossing NS Road while her friend stood at one end of the stretch. A two-wheeler travelling at immense speed struck her, causing her to be thrown onto the road. CCTV footage of the collision surfaced and circulated on Saturday.

Following the incident, Juhu Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) for rash driving against the biker, leading to his subsequent arrest.

Local activists noted that speed breakers along this stretch of NS Road had been removed during Metro construction work and were never restored, leaving the roadway hazardous for pedestrians.

The collision is the second hit-and-run incident involving a school student in the western suburbs over a two-month span. In July, an eight-year-old girl was grievously injured in Jogeshwari after being struck by a two-wheeler travelling in the wrong direction.
