Bird Stuck in Train Pantograph Disrupts Harbour Line Services at Kharghar

Suburban train services on Mumbai's Harbour line were briefly disrupted on Wednesday afternoon after a bird got stuck in the pantograph of a local train at Kharghar railway station.

The incident took place at around 2.08 pm while the suburban train was entering Kharghar station, according to officials from Central Railway.

The bird trapped in the apparatus caused the overhead equipment (OHE) to trip, leading to a temporary power fault along the section.

Smoke began rising from the train's pantograph following the contact, which caused brief panic among passengers at the station and on board the train.

Railway staff responded promptly to the situation to inspect the overhead equipment and clear the obstruction. Normal services on the Harbour line were successfully restored within minutes once safety was ensured.
