BJP Holds Tricolour Rally in Vashi Ahead of Independence Day
The Navi Mumbai district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a Tricolour rally on Wednesday in Vashi ahead of Independence Day. The procession began at the Blue Diamond Hotel junction and concluded at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, with participants raising patriotic slogans such as “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” along the route.
The event was organised in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and promote values of national unity, sovereignty, integrity, and development. The rally was held under the leadership of Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik, with Navi Mumbai Mayor Sujata Patil presiding over the program.
A large number of BJP workers, youth, and local citizens participated in the rally while carrying national flags. Prominent attendees included former MP Dr Sanjeev Naik, former MLA Sandeep Naik, Deputy Mayor Dashrath Bhagat, BJP Navi Mumbai district president Dr Rajesh Patil, and standing committee chairman Ashok Patil, alongside elected representatives and party office-bearers.
Addressing the gathering at the event, former MP Dr Sanjeev Naik urged citizens to work collectively toward the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” or developed India by 2047. He called on people to rise above caste, religion, sect, and regional identities to unite in the larger interest of the country.
“India’s youth power is the nation’s power. The large participation of young people in this Tricolour rally is encouraging. The youth are the country’s real strength,” Sanjeev Naik said. He also appealed to residents across Navi Mumbai to hoist the national flag at their residences on August 15 and celebrate Independence Day with national pride.
Mayor Sujata Patil extended her Independence Day greetings to citizens, noting that the rally was organised following the Prime Minister’s appeal and under the guidance of Forest Minister Ganesh Naik. She emphasised the symbolic significance of the national flag during her address.
“The Tricolour is not merely three colours. It represents the strength, power, peace and progress of the nation,” Mayor Sujata Patil said. She added that holding the Tricolour helps citizens identify themselves first as Indians, regardless of caste, religion, or sect, and noted that such rallies help nurture patriotism and strengthen national unity.
The rally concluded with participants reiterating messages of patriotism and national integration while paying tribute to the national flag in the lead-up to Independence Day.
