BJP Leader Kaushik Patil Booked For Assaulting Police Constable In Mulund

The Mulund police have registered a case against Kaushik Patil, the BJP’s North East Mumbai district vice-president, for allegedly assaulting and obstructing an on-duty police constable. The incident took place around 12:50 AM on Friday outside Siesta Tower, Swapna Nagri on LBS Road in the Mulund area of Mumbai.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed at the Mulund Police Station, Mumbai Police Constable Bhausaheb Ingle and his colleague were conducting a routine night patrol in the area. During their patrol, the officers observed a large crowd gathered outside the Siesta Tower building.
The officers discovered that the group gathered at the spot was celebrating a birthday. Due to the late hour, the patrolling police officers approached the gathering and requested that the crowd disperse from the public road.
However, Patil allegedly refused to follow the instructions of the police officers. The police stated that Patil instead began to abuse and threaten Constable Ingle. During the argument, Patil reportedly claimed that he could have the constable suspended from his job. He also identified himself as the brother of a Member of Parliament (MP) and a BJP district president to intimidate the officers.
As the confrontation escalated, the police officers on the scene attempted to detain Patil. Patil resisted the detention and allegedly assaulted Constable Ingle. According to the police, Patil pushed Ingle and hit him directly in the chest.
During the physical scuffle, Patil also allegedly damaged police property. He reportedly tore the pocket of Constable Ingle's official police uniform and damaged the officer's nameplate.
Following the altercation, the Mulund police registered an FIR against Patil. He faces charges of assaulting a police officer, obstructing a public servant from performing his duties, and damaging police property.
