BMC clears fallen trees at 3841 locations across Mumbai after heavy rains

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) completed tree removal, branch clearance, and pruning work at 3,841 locations across Mumbai between June 22 and July 17, 2026. The clean-up operations were launched by the civic body's Garden Department to address the widespread damage caused by heavy rainfall and strong winds.

According to official data from the BMC, the city recorded a total of 902 uprooted trees and 1,251 incidents of fallen branches during this period. The damage was spread across municipal areas, housing societies, residential colonies, and other private properties throughout the city.

While clearance work has been finished at thousands of sites, operations remain ongoing. The Garden Department is currently working to clear trees and branches at 542 remaining locations within its jurisdiction.
