BMC Commissioner Inspects Chembur Civic Hospitals and Orders Faster Repairs

On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Prajakta Verma Lavangare conducted a surprise inspection of civic healthcare facilities in Chembur, Mumbai. The unscheduled visit was aimed at reviewing the quality of healthcare services, staffing, and infrastructure at local medical centers.

The inspection targeted two key civic-run institutions in the Chembur area: the Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Maternity Home and Smt. Divaliben Mehta (Maa) General Hospital. Lavangare, accompanied by hospital officials, assessed multiple aspects of these facilities to ensure they meet the city's standards for public healthcare.

According to official statements, the surprise inspection focused on reviewing the quality of medical services being provided to patients. Additionally, the commissioner and hospital officials evaluated the staffing levels, the state of the hospital infrastructure, and the implementation of digital healthcare systems within both institutions.

Following the assessment, Lavangare issued direct orders to expedite ongoing hospital repair and renovation work. The directives were given with the goal of strengthening civic-run healthcare services and improving overall patient care at the facilities.

The initiative is part of the civic administration's efforts to monitor and strengthen the network of municipal hospitals and maternity homes across Mumbai.
